Welcome Home and Happy Anniversary!
Hearing those words “Welcome Home” from our spiritual family in South Africa meant more than we can say. We arrived back in “the Cape” to a flurry of activity with preparations well underway for Mountain View’s 10th Anniversary Celebration. It was an absolute blessing to see everyone excited and busy serving the Lord. We also met a new family our first Sunday back who had joined the church while we were away. How great is that?
This past weekend, we celebrated! How we wish you could have seen the smiles up close and hear the testimonies that were shared as part of the weekend. It was wonderful and we believe that God was glorified as we continually praised Him for all that He has accomplished in building His church in this place. Some, who the Lord had directed elsewhere over the years, returned to share the event with us. We invited our church planting partners and had many visitors. We said “welcome home to all.”
We were particularly moved on Sunday morning as two of our men prayed in the service thanking God for all who sacrificed and gave, and continue to support us, making their church a reality. They were praying for all of you! As part of the celebration the gospel was given and the challenge extended as Ted and Diane Weinberg, our ABWE builders who came for the event, reminded us that we are in a spiritual battle and we must continue to fight to the end and stay strong for God’s church. What will the next ten years bring? We don’t know, but we do know that we serve a great God!
“Welcome Home” took on new meaning that same day as we finished our anniversary celebration, transformed the church, and moved from one celebration to another. Together, our forever family celebrated the home-going of one of our dear church members, Liza Mantel, who went to heaven this past week after battling cancer for many years. Many of you prayed with us that we would make it back to Cape Town before she passed. Thank you. It was another opportunity to share the gospel to all who were present. Please join us as we continue to pray for her husband, Bob, to come to know the Lord.
Dear Lord, until we hear those words, “Welcome home,” may we all be faithful until the end for your glory. Help us keep our eyes on the prize as we… “press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.” (Philippians 3:14)
